On Tuesday evening, weather permitting, Grays Ath will make the short trip onto Canvey Island for our re-arranged away league encounter with Concord Rangers.

This season, after relegation from the Premier Division at the end of last year, Concord are comfortably mid-table, having looked a little shaky early on, taking a while to adjust to life back at this level. Their festive period fixture list, was a beast, pitting them against many of the top teams in the division - Witham, Bury Town, Brentwood and Waltham Abbey. Although they garnered only one point from these three games, the Beachboys netted twice on each outing and only lost three of the matches by a single goal. (Indeed, they have scored more than one goal in eight of their last nine outings !)

Our two sides have already met at Tilbury earlier this season. In mid-September, under the Wednesday night lights, Grays ran out comfortable 2-0 winners, with the game top and tailed by goals from Luke Hirst and Louie Remi.

That fixture was strangely the first ever league encounter between our two clubs, although there have been six county cup ties over the years, with honours just about even.

Top scorer for the Beachboys so far this season is the highly regarded Anisius Lewis with eight goals - but he is now unfortunately sidelined long term with injury. Next on the scorers list is former Blue, Tommy Stagg.
