On Tuesday evening, conditions permitting, Grays Ath make the short trip onto Canvey Island for our away league encounter with Concord Rangers.
This season, after relegation from the Premier Division at the end of last year, Concord are bang in the middle of the table, with six wins and six losses and a goal difference of 0. Their recent form epitomises this completely, with a win, a loss and a draw in each of their last three sets of three league games. Their most recent fixture resulted in a good 2-0 win at home to Basildon, preceded by a loss to Felixstowe & Walton and a draw with Maldon & Tiptree.
Our two sides have already met at Tilbury earlier this season. In mid-September, under the Wednesday night lights, Grays ran out comfortable 2-0 winners, with the game top and tailed by goals from Luke Hirst and Louie Remi.
That fixture was strangely the first ever league encounter between our two clubs, although there have been six county cup ties over the years, with honours just about even.
Top scorer for the Beachboys so far this season is the highly regarded Anisius Lewis with eight goals. He is bound to be a handful against us.
With the plentiful weather over recent days, there is a planned pitch inspection at 1pm tomorrow afternoon, so please check socials before travelling.
The game is planned for a 7.45pm kick-off. Concord’s ground is at Thames Rd, Canvey Island SS8 0HH.
Come on you Blues
