GAFC 1 – 1 Ashford Town (Middx)

Chris Jones29 Sep 2012 - 16:12

A replay will be required to determine the winners of the tie, after Southern League side Ashford Town (Middx) held Blues to a 1-1 draw at Rush Green.

West Ham United under 21 goalkeeper Jake Larkins made his debut, replacing George Kamurasi who watched from the stands, and Danny Bunce came in for Lee Flynn, with the latter dropping to the bench. Joe Sweeney and Jack West were partnered together up-front, with James Bunn the one to miss out on a starting place.

Bunce scored the opening goal with an excellent free-kick from 25 yards, after Carlos had been brought down. It was his 14th goal for the club, which puts him level with Joao Carlos and Sweeney.

Blues held the lead until the 71st minute when Mark Bitmead hooked in a loose ball after Russell Canderton’s long throw wasn’t dealt with.

The replay will take place at the Robert Parker Stadium, Stanwell, Middlesex on Tuesday evening with a 7.45 kick off. Details of how to get to the ground can be found here.
